Los Angeles artist Jean Burg’s painted reliefs and original graphics deal primarily with movement, energy, color and gesture. The energetic forms seek to confront the viewer with the question of reality versus illusion. The sculptural works are made of Kydex, a vinyl material, polychromed, and often include aluminum, copper, brass or stainless steel. The prints, either etchings or monoprints, are produced with color fast inks on imported rag paper.
Jean Burg is a graduate of Otis Art Institute and has taught there for many years as well as at Occidental College and Woodbury University. She was co-founder of Triad Graphic Workshop in Los Angeles and past president of the Los Angeles Printmaking Society. Her works are in numerous public and private collections including Zerox Corporation, I.B.M., Standard Oil, and the White House Collection. She has exhibited widely in the United States and abroad, at Los Angeles County Museum, La Jolla Museum, Long Beach Museum, Oakland Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Seattle Museum and many other museums and galleries.
