Call to Members! Jewel Case Fundraiser

Fun fundraiser?

LAPS is holding several fund raising events around our two Membership shows this fall ; at LA Artcore Gallery and at CAFAM, Craft and Folk Art Musuem.

Members are encouraged to clean out your print drawers and make some ART.

All donated art will be "framed" in plastic CD jewel cases and prominently displayed at upcoming exhibition events. At 4.75" x 4.75" it is easy to make a handful of these "prints", clean out your drawers and have fun, too.

And you will be helping LAPS plan for the 20th National next year. This will be a big year for printmaking in California. There are lots of opportunities for our members to participate. Join in the "fund"! Prints will be accepted throughout the fall.

And don't forget to join us at LA ArtCore December 7th for the first official Jewel Case Fundraiser!

From age to age...the crash of ruin fitfully resounds.
William Wordsworth

CONTEMPORARY RUIN
In their inherent aesthetic, emotional or inquisitive appeal, the vestiges of ruin and decay contain, for each of us, a certain level of fascination. A ruin, whether it is architectural, human or environmental, often triggers a stirring experience. These experiences can include the recognition of the uncomfortable signs of mortality or feelings of nostalgia. In its apparent familiarity, or unfamiliarity, a ruin often causes one to feel some level of comfort or discomfort, as one usually ends up confronting the nostalgia of what could have been or has not yet happened.
