Milieu, BlackburnComing December 2008 LAPS will hold an invitational exchange show with Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, at LA ArtCore. The RBP Workshop is a celebrated community based print shop located in New York City. Founded by Robert Blackburn, (1920-2003) an artist and master printer, who was mentored by the Harlem Renaissance alongside Romare Bearden and Jacob Lawrence. Blackburn modeled his workshop on the WPA-sponsored Harlem Community Center. The workshop was founded in 1948 and became the largest non-profit workshop in the United States and remains one of the most vital open print studios in the world. In 1992 Robert Blackburn received a MacArthur Fellowship.
The Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop is located at the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, 323 West 39th Street, NYC. Along with an active and diverse artists community, the Foundation maintains a small on-site gallery.

LA ARTCORE
, founded in 1979 by Lydia Takeshita to present exhibitions that create dialogues between artists of diverse cultural backgrounds and the art viewing public. LAAC sponsors several exchange shows that bring artists from all over the world to southern California. LA Artcore maintains two beautiful exhibition spaces in downtown Los Angeles at the Union Center for the Arts and the Brewery Annex.
